David Brits is a centre for the Toyota Cheetahs.
He captained the Selbourne College 1st XV in 2015 and was selected to represent the South African Schools team in the same year.
David also captained the University of Stellenbosch Maties to the semi-finals of the 2021 Varsity Cup, played in a bio-secure environment in Pretoria.
In 2017, he was a part of the South African U.20 team, which played in the Junior Rugby World Championships in Georgia.
Apart from representing the Junior Springboks, he has also played age-level rugby for Western Province while studying for a BA Humanities degree at Maties. He also played in seven games scoring three tries for Western Province during the 2018-'19 seasons.
Brits made his debut for the Toyota Cheetahs in Round 1 of the Currie Cup Premier Division on 26 June 2021 against the Griquas at Tafel Lager Park, Kimberley.
He only missed one of the Toyota Cheetahs' 13 Currie Cup games in the 2022 season - on 16 March against Western Province in Bloemfontein. David and Frans Steyn were the centres in nine matches until Steyn injured his hamstring against Griquas on 28 May 2022 in Kimberley. The Springbok was on the sidelines for the rest of the Currie Cup season.
Brits have already scored eight tries in his 23 matches for the Toyota Cheetahs.
